Is it safe to drive if I have low blood glucose (sugar)?

Low blood glucose, or low blood sugar, is serious. It is when your blood glucose is below 70 mg/dL.

It is dangerous to drive if you have low blood glucose.

Low blood glucose can:

  • make it hard to focus

  • make you shaky

  • make you dizzy or cause you to faint

If you notice signs of low blood glucose while you are driving, pull over. Check your blood glucose and treat low numbers right away.
