What should I eat and drink to take care of my diabetes?

Planning out what you will eat and drink for each meal can help you take care of your diabetes.
You can make healthy meals using the Diabetes Plate Method: 

With your meal, choose a low-sugar drink:

  • Water

  • Unsweetened tea or coffee 

  • Sparkling water/club soda

  • Flavored water without added sugar

You can ask your doctor or a diabetes care and education specialist (DCES) for more tips on what to eat. You can also see a dietician who can help you make a healthy eating plan.
