What can I do to lower my risk of low blood glucose (sugar)?

Low blood glucose, or low blood sugar, is serious. It is when your blood glucose is below 70 mg/dL.

You can lower your risk of low blood glucose by:

  • Checking your blood glucose if you feel it is low (see “How will I feel when my blood glucose (sugar) is low?”)

  • Trying not to skip meals.

  • Trying not to drink alcohol on an empty stomach. Limiting yourself to 1-2 drinks/day.
